It’s hard to believe 2019 is already over! Over the past year we resolved over 280 votes on the Wishlist Forum and added more than 20 new features and updates to help you run your organization more effectively, including recurring donations, finance options in the mobile app, and a completely new email editor. In 2020, you’ll see even more features inspired by customer feedback.

As part of these plans, we’re improving the user interface (UI) of the software, starting by updating the layout of the admin view to help you use Wild Apricot more efficiently.

In Version 7.8 (planned for late January), you’ll get an updated navigation menu that simplifies the way you access settings and support options and gives you a more unified experience if you use multiple Personify products.

Below is what the updated navigation will look like – for a live tour, join our upcoming webinar.

New navigation overall image

You’ll still have the same functionality as before and the content and data you work with won’t be affected, however the main menu options, account options and help center will be moved to a left sidebar you can collapse out of the way, and we’re also updating the way you use the following areas:

Settings

Customer feedback has shown that it can be hard to find specific settings in the current navigation, particularly when some settings pages are duplicated in different places. It can also be confusing when limited admins see settings options they can't edit.

We’re addressing these user experience issues by replacing the complicated Settings page with a simplified Global settings page where you can view and edit account-wide settings like authorized applications and account administrators. You will be able to edit feature-specific settings directly from the module they apply to instead. In addition, limited administrators will only be shown the settings options that are available to them.

Help center

We’re updating the in-product help center options to help you find the support you need while you’re working:

  • Help & Support: Get help by searching our library of guides and checklists, see whether we’re experiencing any service issues, or submit a support request directly from inside the software.
  • Feedback: Submit your suggestions for improvements to the Wishlist forum.
  • Education: Read about best practices for membership organizations in our latest expert blog posts.
  • What’s new: Check what was added in the latest update for the browser application or mobile app.

If you’re currently in a 30-day free trial, you’ll see two additional options to help you set up your account:

  • Getting Started: See an overview of your account and next steps.
  • Coaching: Get in touch with our expert coaches.

To see a tour of the new navigation, please join us for our upcoming webinar, How to Use New Wild Apricot Features to Grow Your Membership.

In this session, you’ll learn how to recruit and engage more members by using some of the Wild Apricot features released in 2019, and see the new navigation in action.

December Support FAQ

This month, our support FAQs are all related to the new email editor, specifically working with images.

How do I add an image with the new email editor?

With the new email editor, images are added separately from text. This helps to prevent your emails from looking different on different platforms and email readers.

To add an image, you drag an image gadget from the Gadgets panel on the left and drop it where you want the image to appear.

You can drop the image gadget above or below or a text gadget, or beside a text gadget in a neighboring layout cell but not within a text gadget.

How do I set the image size with the new email editor?

To adjust the image size, display the settings for the image gadget and change the Width setting. To display the image gadget settings, just click the image. The settings will appear in the panel on the right.

When you change the width setting, the height will automatically adjust to maintain the image's proportions. You can enter any width you want, but the actual image width will not exceed the column width for that layout.

How do I wrap text around an image with the new email editor?

The new email editor does not support text wrapping around an image because it’s not supported on many email readers, leading to unpredictable results. However, you can approximate text wrapping using multi-column layouts.

Begin by positioning single column layouts above and below a left or right sidebar layout, as shown below.

Now, add text gadgets to the top and bottom layouts, and to the wider of the two sidebar layouts. Then, add an image gadget to the narrower of the two sidebar layouts.

Next, add the image to the image gadget, and add the text you want to appear above, below, and beside the image. After adjusting the padding of the various cells, you'll end up with something like this:
