For many of the organizations we work with, December is a time for making plans for the upcoming year. Whether you’re creating a strategy to grow your membership or filling out your event calendar for the coming months, you might be looking for some education and inspiration on how to improve your organization in 2020.

Our monthly round-up of free nonprofit webinars includes learning opportunities in the areas of fundraising, proposal writing, social media, website design and more, so you can become an expert without having to step out into the cold.

If your organization works with volunteers, we’ve picked out six free webinars that will help you reinvigorate your volunteer program in the new year. So, if you’re looking for new ways to recruit more volunteers, ideas for how to grow your volunteer program, or advice on keeping your volunteers engaged, these webinars will show you the next steps.

Click the links below to see a description of each webinar, plus the date and time of the session.

New in Wild Apricot:

Mobile finances sidebarManaging your organization’s finances from the free mobile app

In 2019, we added a whole new module to the app for admins: Finances. With this module, you can now take care of finance tasks without needing to be at your desk.

The new finance module lets you view lists of invoices and invoice details, take payments, review refunds, check each contact's financial history, and more, to help you make sure you don't miss out on a dime.

The holiday season can be a particularly good opportunity to follow up on unpaid invoices and take payments, since you'll be face-to-face with your members - and their wallets.

Here are three ways you can keep on top of your finances at events - all you need is your smartphone and the app for admins.

1. Following up on unpaid invoices

2. Accepting payment for invoices on the spot

3. Following up on customer queries about payments and refunds

If you create and send emails or newsletters, hopefully you’ve had a chance to try out the new email editor we launched in November.

Inspired by your feedback, the new drag-and-drop editor allows you to build custom layouts, and the gadgets help ensure that your emails will still look as you designed them when they arrive in your contacts’ inboxes.

To help you get started with the new email editor, here are some resources you might want to take a look at:

Support FAQs

What’s the difference between a member’s join date and member since date?

The join date is the date the membership application was submitted. If the membership level requires payment or approval before activation, then the join date (and thereby, the next renewal date) may be different from the member since date, which is the date the membership was approved and activated.

Why is the event I just added not showing up on my event calendar?

If the event you just added doesn’t show up on your event calendar, first check the visibility setting for the event. If it’s not set to Public then it’s restricted to administrators only or to selected membership levels or groups.

If it’s already set to Public, check the event calendar gadget settings and make sure you’re not filtering the calendar using event tags that your new event doesn’t have.

How do I control the order of the products in my online store?

You can control the order in which your products are sorted from the gadget settings for the catalog gadget. Using the Sorting dropdown, you can sort the product list by date added, price, or name, in ascending or descending order.
