What’s New in Wild Apricot

We started off 2019 by releasing version 6.16. As well as fixing some bugs, this includes 3 changes that should make your lives a little easier:

Preventing event duplication issues

Currently, when you duplicate an event, the new event is saved as an admin-only event, and may not appear in your events list depending on how your list is filtered. Consequently, some clients begin revising the original event, thinking that it was the new duplicate event.

To prevent clients from accidentally editing the original event, the new duplicate event now will be automatically opened in view mode.

New event list date filters

Two new filters have been added to the date range dropdown for the events list: Next month, Next year.

New file formats

The following file formats are now supported:

  • Open Office files (ODG, ODP, ODS, ODT)

  • SCSS (SASS CSS file)

January Support FAQs

Why are my members not appearing or appearing in the wrong location on my members location mapping gadget?

This is usually due to the address fields you’ve chosen in the gadget settings. Here are a few tips to help avoid these issues:

  • Don't choose admin only fields, or fields with access or privacy settings set to No access
  • Make sure that the members you chose to include on your map are permitted to access the selected address field(s). If you choose an address field that is not available for your selected membership level(s), those members might not appear on your map.
  • Select only geographic fields like address, state/province, country, postal/zip code, etc. Selecting other types of fields – like organization or phone number – may confuse Google and produce strange results.
  • When address information is unavailable for contacts, leave the address fields blank instead of entering something like n/a.

Why is the background image in my email message not appearing for some of my recipients?

Background images are not normally displayed when messages are viewed on Yahoo and Outlook 2007/2010/2013. Instead, Outlook provides an option to view the message in a web browser.

Recipients can enable the display of background images in Outlook by unchecking the Don’t download pictures automatically in HTML email messages or RSS items option within their Trust Center Settings. You can find out more about inserting images into emails in this help article.

Why are my images so big when viewed on a mobile device?

When you’re inserting images into your site pages, you might count on the size of the layout cell to automatically scale down your images to the size you want. However, when your site pages are displayed on mobile devices, the layouts are effectively abandoned and the content displayed in them are displayed one element after another, stacked on top of each other.

Because the layouts are not used, the images in your layout are displayed at their original size, up to the full width of the mobile screen. To avoid this, resize your images to the size you want to display them before inserting them.

volunteer report blog newsletter image

As a volunteer manager, you know the amazing influence your volunteers have on your organization’s mission. However, it might sometimes be hard to convey their story to the rest of your organization.

In doing so, you’re likely to gain more buy-in and recognition of the key role volunteers play in your organization — thus increasing support for your program and respect for your position.

In this guest post, Elisa Kosarin, CVA, shows you how to create a Volunteer Management Annual Report to communicate the value of your volunteers.
