5. The State of Recurring Giving

September 6, 1:00 PM ET

Recurring donors are consistently worth 4 times more than one time donors (over a 5-year period), give more per year than one-time donors and are more likely to support your organization year over year than one time donors. So why don't we try to communicate, market, and attract more recurring donors? And when we do, how do we do that?

That's what we'll cover in this session based on our findings from the State Recurring Giving Study where we gave multiple gifts (one time and monthly) to 108 organizations in the US and tracked and scored the process. We looked at things like:

  • Value proposition and signup/donation process
  • Communications and messaging
  • Conversion and upgrade strategies
  • Cancellation and retention strategies
  • See how your program compares, how to get started with one, or where to improve your recurring gift program based on real research in the market today.

Learning objectives:

  • see the current 'best practices' - or lack thereof - when it comes to monthly and recurring giving programs
  • be able to see how their current programs and practices compare, where they can improve, and there they are doing well
  • understand the immense value of having a recurring giving program and get some ideas and tips on how to gain, keep, and convert more recurring giving donors with digital strategies

We wanted to better understand how recurring giving programs were being done but from a donor’s perspective so we made recurring donations to 115 organizations across 9 different verticals and  captured the process and analyzed the communications along the way.

  • In this webinar presented by Brady Josephson, you’ll get key findings in three key areas:
  • What does the donation process look like?

19. Reframing the Story: Investment in Black Men And Boys is Vital to Whole Community Health

September 13, 2:00 PM ET

The ecosystem of nonprofit organizations in the United States is growing at a rapid rate, and the assets of philanthropic institutions continue to grow as well. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested by philanthropy into many of these nonprofit institutions in the name of change and social justice.  Yet, a walk through any of the projects in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles or any other major city of the United States will quickly reveal that not much has changed for the residents of these underrepresented communities. Why?

In their latest article, “Paid in Full”, published by Stanford Social Innovation Review, Dorian Burton and Brian C.B. Barnes argue that there is a lack of dimensionality, authentic community engagement, and a neglect to map out a comprehensive approach to change that is missing from the strategies set forth by our philanthropic and social sector institutions. In this webinar, Dorian Burton, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-founder of TandemEd., and Assistant Executive Director at Keenen Charitable Trust, along with Shawn Dove, CEO of the Campaign for Black Male Achievement, Dr. Brian Barnes, Co-Founder and CEO of TandemEd, Trabian Shorters, CEO of BMe Community, and Anthony Smith, CEO of Cities United, will come together to discuss the importance of redirecting philanthropic investments for justice-oriented collective action and impact, and how that translates in the real world.

You will have the opportunity to learn about the seven elements of the paid-in-full investment strategy, and how to apply this approach to your work, as a grantmaker, nonprofit, government, or community-based entity. Finally, they will also talk about why investing in black men and boys is a key component of justice-oriented collective action, and vital to whole community health.

Upon completion of this webinar you should be able to:

  • Describe tangible strategies for placemaking and building community health
  • Recognize how and why you should move to Asset Framing rather than Deficit-Based Narratives
  • Identify the barriers and opportunities to investing in building equitable communities
  • Plan how to reorient your institution for equitable change and investments in the field

20. LinkedIn Marketing Concepts for Nonprofit Professionals

Us: The power of the organization's message on LinkedIn: well-coordinated, inspiring, successful; its image to the business community: on-point, concise, everyone in the organization reflecting the mission in their own personal profiles.

Them: All people who have not yet contributed to your cause but are available to you to research, selectively market to; when inspired by your cause, they offer their expertise, time, and money.

Are the three compatible? Yes, if you use the smart LinkedIn concepts.

Cohesive? This will take work, but it is attainable. You must feed and cultivate it continually.

Collaborative? Ah, the best of all worlds, all of us rowing the boat in the same direction.

38.  The Power of Community: Why Social Media Isn’t Enough

September 25th, 11:30 AM CST

865 million fake news posts.

87 million accounts with their information sold.

User rates shrinking by 20 percent in key demographics.

Social media is an important part of any organization’s outreach and engagement strategy but if you’re relying on social alone for your online community it may be time to reconsider. Community is about building a loyal following, growing and cultivating a supportive environment while helping members and furthering your organization’s mission and strategic initiatives. It’s connecting your constituents to the causes they’re passionate about, creating opportunities to share information, learn from one another and deepen relationships.

And in a social media world overcrowded with messages and controversy, and where pay-to-play is increasingly important, creating that experience for your members can be hard to do.

Whether you’re heavily invested in hosting your online community on sites like Facebook and LinkedIn, feel increasingly uncomfortable putting all your eggs in the social media basket or already recognize a private community may be right for you, we’re here to help.

Join Personify as we:

  • Explore the differences between community and social media – and discuss which channel may be best for what activity
  • Investigate the limitations of a social-media-only approach to online community
  • Discover how to enjoy the best of both worlds, using a private community to drive action and social media to get people there

39. Fundraising 101: Fundraising Metrics - How Do You Measure Up?

September 25, 1:00 PM ET

In the rush of the day-to-day at your nonprofit, it’s hard to make time to reflect and assess your performance against your goals. With the advent of the Fundraising Effectiveness Project--supported by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Bloomerang, and others--organizations that measure will thrive. Those that don’t will not be as competitive, because they will lack vital data to make informed decisions.

The measurement of key performance indicators in fundraising has become a best practice, and you don’t want your organization to fall behind. Be a data-driven organization, know your fundraising health, and measure the work you do every day. If you have a spreadsheet and can do simple math, you can use fundraising metrics to improve your operations and help your organization grow.

You can do it! Join Heather to learn how.

What we will cover during the live webinar:

  • The top eight areas of fundraising performance measurement
  • How the amount of money you raise is the not the most important metric you’ll assess
  • How to measure fundraising performance over time
  • How to use fundraising metrics to improve the quality and result of your fundraising efforts

Key Benefits of this Webinar:

  • Your development plan is more likely to succeed if it is built upon data.
  • You will be able to better target your fundraising activities on those with the highest return on investment.
  • You will have the metrics to assess your organization’s fundraising health and long-term (potential) sustainability.
  • You will better understand how you’re doing against the goals you’ve set.
