February Update: Wild Apricot Pricing Plans Are Changing

Dmitriy Ivanov  28 February 2018  4 comments

Hello everyone!

Earlier this month, we announced our pricing plans are changing on April 3, 2018. You may have seen an email, or a notification on your Wild Apricot dashboard. For a quick recap, here are some of the details again.

We are adjusting our pricing plans to reflect the value we have added and will continue to add to Wild Apricot. The changes also reflect our commitment to make Wild Apricot a truly all-in-one solution. This means all organizations, no matter their size, have access to all Wild Apricot’s features, including two powerful new features: our Mobile App for Members, and our new Online Store

Here is a summary of the rest of the changes coming on April 3, 2018:

  • All plans will include recurring payments.
  • We are removing admin limits across all plans.
  • We are introducing a new Personal Plan ($25/month) for smaller organizations with 100 contacts or less to make Wild Apricot more accessible and affordable.
  • We are introducing a new Global Plan for organizations with up to 50,000 contacts to make Wild Apricot more accessible for bigger organizations.
  • Prices for all plans are changing.

Along with these changes, we are introducing a new, two-year subscription plan on April 3, 2018 that will allow you to save 15%. Also, if your renewal date is before April 3, 2018, you can prepay for the next year at our current prices.

This is the second time Wild Apricot has changed its pricing plans in its 12-year history.

Full details of the changes are here. If you have any concerns or questions, please get in touch with our support team here.

You’re Invited to the Wild Apricot User Conference

As a Wild Apricot customer, you're invited to our first ever Wild Apricot User Conference. We're hosting it in Austin, Texas, between April 8 - 10, and we'd love to see you there.

Our conference is part of PersoniFest, the annual conference hosted by Personify, our parent company. You might notice that Personify tends to create names that leverage their company name. They have a product called Personify360, another one called PersonifyGO and so naturally, their user conference is called PersoniFest.

Why should you attend PersoniFest, you might ask? It is a festival rich with customers, partners, and employees from Personify’s family of companies, including Wild Apricot. It is a great opportunity to learn, network, and have fun while ultimately enhancing what you and your organization can achieve with our products.

You are invited to join several hundred attendees and participate in the many informative sessions, including training sessions that provide CAE credits. The training alone makes the event worth attending.

You’ll also meet similar organizations and can learn from them, along with Wild Apricot partners who can assist you in implementation, digital marketing, SEO, website refreshes, setting up the online store, and many other systems needs you may have. The personal connections you’ll develop go a long way and this is the event to make that happen.

Every year, PersoniFest supports a local charity in the community hosting the event. Since Austin is the “Live Music Capital of the World,” this year we will support a local charity that helps struggling musicians get a chance at an album, concert tour, or other activity that exposes them to the world. That organization is www.blackfret.org and we’ll have many local musicians playing at the event.

We want to personally invite you to attend. We’re convinced you’ll get a lot out of it.

Chrome to Start Flagging All HTTP Sites as “Not Secure”

Starting in July, Google’s Chrome browser will explicitly flag all site pages that use http (rather than https) as “Not secure”. Currently, Chrome displays an information icon beside the URL in the address bar, which when clicked, will display the message, “Your connection to this site is not secure.”

March Newsletter

Once version 68 of Chrome is released in July, the browser will include the phrase “Not secure” in the address bar, instead of hiding this information discreetly behind the information icon.

So, if you aren’t already forcing your Wild Apricot site pages to use https, we recommend doing so. Here’s how:

If you’re not using a custom domain, or using a custom domain with a security certificate already installed on your Wild Apricot site, make sure that traffic encryption on your site is set to Always.

(Custom domains looks like nycs.com or nycs.org rather than nycs.wildapricot.org.)

If you’re using a custom domain without a security certificate, you need to get a certificate installed on your Wild Apricot site before setting your traffic encryption to Always. To get a free security certificate from Wild Apricot via Let’s Encrypt, just have a full account administrator send an email requesting a security certificate from Let's Encrypt to Wild Apricot support, and include your custom URL and Wild Apricot account number in the message. We'll let you know once the certificate is installed.

This change to Chrome is part of a wider trend to force sites to employ secure access exclusively. Since secure access is simpler and cheaper than ever before, we regard this as a step forward and encourage you to provide your members with the protection that https provides.

How Wild Apricot is Preparing for the GDPR

On May 25, 2018, the European Union will begin enforcing a new set of data protection regulations, known collectively as the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

For those of you unfamiliar with the GDPR, the GDPR regulates the collection and storage of personal data for EU residents (including UK residents), regardless of where the organization doing the collecting is located.

As a company, Wild Apricot has to maintain compliance with the GDPR and we have begun to review our internal procedures for collecting personal data from our customers. We are also creating some help articles for customers to learn more about what they need to do to comply with the GDPR too.

If your organization is affected, you will need to review and document a number of things such as what personal data you are collecting, where it came from, who you share it with, and who has access to it. You will also need to review how you seek, record, and manage consent.

For more information about how GDPR applies to your organization, and to see Wild Apricot’s progress on compliance, click here.

Free Webinar — Steal These Ideas: 3 Growth Strategies From Top Fundraisers

EngelSohinWebinarImageHave you ever wondered how some charitable organizations get major donors to write those five-figure checks? Or, how they manage to attract all those millennials to volunteer? Or, how they put together those beautiful, emotionally-compelling, multi-channel, integrated-end-of-year campaigns? If so, please join our free webinar on March 21 with Elizabeth Engel and Sohini Baliga, authors of the recently released whitepaper Steal Like a Fundraiser. Elizabeth and Sohini will share the strategies membership organizations can steal from fundraisers in order to create compelling campaigns that bring in money, build relationships, and attract diverse audiences.

In this free webinar, Elizabeth and Sohini will show you:

  • Why the most successful fundraisers raise more money by NOT treating everyone equally, and why you shouldn’t either
  • The keys to creating compelling, multi-channel campaigns to recruit new members and volunteers
