Version 5.5 Released: Includes New Event Registration Features

We’re glad to announce the release of Version 5.5! Like all of our releases, this one was delivered automatically to all accounts.

Here’s a brief overview of the new features and enhancements included in Version 5.5:

Creating a new contact for a guest registration

Wild Apricot’s events module now gives you the option to automatically add a guest registrant’s information as a contact into your Wild Apricot database.

Previously, admins had to manually enter all guests as contacts in the database to keep from losing their information.

With version 5.5, new options have been added to the “event details” page that give you 3 different options on how to handle guest registrations.

Here are the new options:

A new search option has also been added, so you can find guests that registered for a specific event.

This new feature will allow you to automatically input guest’s contact information into your central database This opens up many opportunities to connect with them on a future date. Super helpful if you ever want to invite them to another event, or ask them to join your organization!

Limiting registration to one per contact or email

Our events module is quite flexible, allowing a single user to register for an event multiple times. 

Instances occurred where members would register non-members for an event using their contact information, which (in some cases) saw them unfairly availing of a members-only discount. Furthermore, this caused duplications of registration entries and created more work for admins to go in and clean up the database.  

With Version 5.5, a new setting is automatically activated that solves these problems.

A simple checkbox that restricts “one registration per contact” can be selected. This will restrict registration to an event, to one per contact or email.

Stripe payment support

With Version 5.5, Wild Apricot now supports yet another payment provider with Stripe. Stripe is unique as it does not charge setup fees, monthly fees, validation fees, card storage fees, or failed payment fees.

Stripe has a number of unique features that simplifies payment processing on your Wild Apricot site:

  • Stripe Checkout: Stripe offers up customizable payment flows and forms that can be embedded on to your current Wild Apricot site. Customers can pay instantly, without being redirected away to complete a transaction.
  • Recurring payment support: Stripe securely stores your members’ payment information on file, so that recurring payments can be made automatically.
  • Worldwide payment processing:  Accept payments from people in the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia and most of Europe.
  • Fraud protection: Stripe actively monitors transactions to prevent fraud and suspicious activities.

And as always, Wild Apricot will charge no additional transaction fees when using a third party payment provider.
