4 Ways To Celebrate & Share Your #NVW Stories

This week across Canada and the U.S., we’re celebrating National Volunteer Week 2015 (April 12-18).

While we hope you are recognizing your amazing volunteers all year round, this is a special time to really celebrate your association's, club's or non-profit’s volunteers.

Expert Webinar:  Converting Volunteers From Joiners To Stayers

One of the ways Wild Apricot is celebrating National Volunteer Week is by offering a free Expert Webinar.

On Thursday, April 16th (at 2 PM ET), Tobi Johnson, recognized expert and thought leader in the field of volunteer engagement, will explain how effective volunteer onboarding can lead to more motivated, satisfied volunteers – who not only join, but stay and become actively engaged.

You can get more information or register for this free Expert Webinar here.

Ideas For Recognizing Your Volunteers and Sharing Your Stories

In a post last week, we offered up some links to National Volunteer Week 2015 resources from both Volunteer Canada and Points of Light (U.S). Check out the campaign and marketing kits and tools they are offering to help you recognize your volunteers.

Here are some examples of how you can recognize your volunteers and raise awareness for your organization on social networks as well.

Demonstrate how your volunteers rock – literally!

We suggested that “Your Volunteers Rock”, but Volunteer Canada took that idea quite literally! They asked organizations to create “personalized token NVW stones that thank volunteers” and share their photos on Twitter with the #NVW2015 hashtag or on Facebook (@Volunteer Canada). Here’s an example from AlphaPlus (right).

Sharing Your Stories

Points of Light would like you to “celebrate people doing awesome things and encourage others to get involved!” and share your stories using the #NVW2015 hashtag. Here’s their call for stories on the The National Points of Light “Celebrate Service” website.

Enjoy a FestiVol

VolunteerMatch is celebrating with FestiVOL 15 – “a celebration of all things volunteering - and all volunteers. … Each day for a whole week [VolunteerMatch will] post three "nuggets": One piece of inspiration, one piece of knowledge, and one action.” You can follow the hashtag #FestiVOL on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see everything as it's released, and to join in the fun yourself.

Pinterest Board Full of Ideas!

For more great ideas on how you can celebrate with your volunteers during National Volunteer Week 2015, check out the Volunteer Appreciation Pinterest board created by VolunteerSpot.

Share your stories

Your volunteers really do rock! We hope you'll demonstrate your appreciation during National Volunteer Week. Be sure to share your stories on social media this week using the #NVW hashtag.
