Behind the Scenes @ Wild Apricot: Out like a lion!

Lori Halley 01 April 2010 0 comments

We're supposed to have our first truly warm weekend here at Wild Apricot Central. How do I plan to spend the warm, long weekend? Well, mostly I'll be taking a scraper to the old paint around our front door and to the little addition to the back of our house, and then if time permits I'll be re-alphabetizing my CDs and DVDs (a task that reminds me I have too much free time to not be doing it on a continual basis). Exciting, no?

It will be a nice change of pace after the week we've had here with the release of version 3.4. We have been working on the help files and testing for so long that it seemed to occupy the entire horizon. This was a larger release for us in a lot of ways: It was one of our longer development cycles since we launched version 3.0 last year, and also took the longest to actually deploy. This was because we were doing a lot of work to our File management system, and we knew it was going to take a lot of time to convert all of our systems.

As you no doubt have noticed for this blog and from your own site, we've launched a number of new features. We've even created some videos help you get started with them. Right now you can see the one we did for File management. You'll be able to find the rest, along with other tutorials we've done on our Video tutorials page on our help site.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, our developers are already hard at work on the next version of Wild Apricot. Actually, they were working on the next version while working on the version 3.4. No, there isn't a fancy time travel paradox in there. We knew that version 3.5 was going to be a big release, so we took some parts of it and started working on it during our last development cycle for version 3.4 and that work will be finished during this one. (Keeping track of these numbers is one of the undocumented perks of being the Useful Apricot!) Some of the highlights of version 3.5 are

Release is scheduled for June 2010, and over the coming weeks I'll be giving you some details on how each feature will look and work.

We've updated our roadmap, as we do after each release. The Roadmap gives you a rolling window into what we are going to be doing over the next 12 months, so we've removed those features we've completed and updated the ones we're working on, or planning to work on. I recommend checking it out!

That's all for this short week.  Stay safe and stay well!
