Easy Collaboration Tool for Website Feedback

Lori Halley 22 March 2010 2 comments

If your organization is building a new website or revamping your existing site, you know that gathering  feedback on design changes from your team can be a complicated process.

Long meetings with a whiteboard; many emails of screen captures with attached text notes; lots of video-conferencing, and lots of room for error! Didn’t we already look at that option? What part of the code isn’t working? Which element did the committee want to have changed?

If you’re looking for an easier, more organized way to help your team work together on a better website, have a look at Notable:

Notable  is a web-based application designed to simplify and streamline the process of gathering feedback on your website -- “a page capture utility with powerful annotation features that let you pinpoint copy, design elements and even code that needs to be tweaked.” It’s loaded with features, yet surprisingly intuitive – easy for even your least tech-savvy team members to use:

  • Four ways to capture a page for discussion – add a Firefox browser button, capture on iPhone or iPod Touch, upload a JPG image, or type in the URL of any page on the Internet.
  • Easy-to-use tools for visual feedback let you add annotations directly to the web page content or code, including an SEO feature to help you optimize your site for search engines.
  • Permission controls on sharing – you decide who gets to see your new version at any point in the process.
  • Activity stream, tags, and sets (collection of feedback about multiple related pages) make it easy to stay organized, while Notable automatically tracks the history of changes.

Take a tour.

The free version of Notable gives you up to 3 users, 3 GB storage, unlimited sets, and the companion iPhone app. Need more? Premium plans start at $24/month (month to month, no contract) and a 30-day free trial is available.

Notable is a great tool.  You can also check out ConceptShare.com, GetBackboard.com and ProofHQ.com.  http://www.conceptfeedback.com can give you website feedback from third-party pros.
