Behind the Scenes @ Wild Apricot: Taming the Lion - Mar 1 to 5 at Wild Apricot

They say March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lion. And while it is true that March snuck up on me as usual, it does bring about many of the things I've been looking forward to - The start of baseball spring training, the imminent release of version 3.4, and the first What is Wild Apricot? webinar of the month.

Every fortnight or so, Jay Moonah and I present a high level overview of what Wild Apricot is and how it can help your organization. We go over how you can use it to be your presence on the Internet, manage your contacts/membership/events/donations, and also how it can automatically handle a lot of those tedious but very necessary tasks like mass emails and member renewals. It's geared more as an introduction, but it's also very useful if you've just set up your Wild Apricot site and want a taste of how it can be used, or if you just want to show it off to your board. There's also a question and answer session at the end where we can go into more detail on some features of the site and also take suggestions for what you'd like to see added. The next webinar is scheduled for March 23rd, and you can sign up here.

We're still in the "testing" phase of our release. This is very exciting for me because it's when I start to see things really come together and take on their final shape. There's still a little polish to be applied, but I'm just too excited not to show you!

Today I'm going to give you a quick look at the new user interface that we're going to have for multiple choice lists (checkboxes), dropdown lists and radio buttons. We're doing away with a lot of the clicking that you had to do to add items. We're also adding some sorting features and making it easier to move items in the list. And just to put some icing on the cake, we're adding the first of the "predefined" lists that you can use - if you're creating a list of Canadian provinces or US states, you just have to make a selection and those value will be automatically added to your list.

It's been another busy week on the forums. Frank, our Fresh Apricot in support, has found a clever way to exportyour events calendars to Google Calendar or iCal on a Mac. You can get all the details on the threadCalendars that sync with Google Cal or Outlook
