TORONTO, On. (November 10, 2009) - Wild Apricot, membership website software for small nonprofit organizations, is today inviting Facebook users to noodle over a name for its plump apricot mascot. The “Name the Apricot” Contest is now accepting entries through Nov. 23, 2009. Anyone is eligible to submit their sobriquet by simply joining the Wild Apricot Facebook Fan page at www.facebook.com/wildapricot.

Name the ApricotAny Facebook user who has a knack for names is invited to enter the contest by submitting their idea and a short essay about why their suggested moniker is magnificent. Enter as many names as you’d like until submissions close at 5 p.m. ET on Nov. 23. Wild Apricot will choose five names as finalists and post them on the Wild Apricot Facebook Fan page on November 27 at 9 a.m. ET.

Once polling begins, fans can vote for their favorite name. Facebook fans can vote once each day during the voting period, which closes December 7. The name with the most votes wins a custom, one-of-a-kind Flip Video Cam with a very special Wild Apricot graphic treatment that will let your friends and family that you’re a wizard wordsmith. The five finalists will each win a Wild Apricot prize pack.

“Our apricot mascot has been part of the Wild Apricot Family for three years and regretfully never had his own identity,” according to Jay Moonah, Noisy Apricot and VP of Marketing. “As a company dedicated to crowdsourcing -- listening to our customers and other community members who influence our software development -- it’s only natural that we ask for their help in naming our friend, who has become our company’s recognized mascot.”
