Interviewer:
Welcome back to home page.  There is now some online help available for non-profits and charities.  Wildapricot.com can help them set up fundraising websites.  Here to tell us how to do it and how it works is Dmitry Buterin.  Is that right?  I said your name correctly?

Dmitry Buterin:
Yes, absolutely.

Interviewer:
Close enough?  Okay good.  I looked at the website and it’s great, because it’s pretty easy to use, number one, and very inexpensive, and you are targeting companies, charities, organizations that ---

Dmitry Buterin:
Not companies yet… small non-profits, I would say.

Interviewer:
Small non-profits that don’t necessarily have a lot of money?

Dmitry Buterin:
Exactly, you know, like in North America, there are about two million non-profits and most of them are small and don’t have any money to speak of.  So some big non-profits, they can afford to spend some money and have their custom software developed.  Small non-profits, typically what happens is, they have a volunteer, he develops a website and they use Excel to keep their contact information and they use Outlook to send emails.  And to keep it all together ---

Interviewer:
It’s difficult.

Dmitry Buterin:
…it’s very painful, because you know, somebody, signs up on your website, makes a donation, you have to put it into your Excel.  You have to put it into your Outlook to send out e-mails; it’s very time-consuming, so you volunteer, you sign up, you want to help these charities know all these tools and it’s very difficult to do.

Interviewer:
Okay, now you go to wildapricot.com…

Dmitry Buterin:
Right.

Interviewer:
What are people going to find?  So I have a small charity and I hear about this thing.  Hey, this is great.

Dmitry Buterin:
Yeah, yeah, you’re any kind of small non-profit and you go to wildapricot.com and basically it’s what’s called software as a service.  It’s software, but you don’t need to download it, you don’t need to install it, you don’t need to buy the service; you don’t even need technical people.  You go online – basically you just need your e-mail – you sign up.  There is a free trial there, so people sign up and they have 30 days ---

Interviewer:
Here we go again.

Dmitry Buterin:
Yeah, they have basically… they can sign up right there on our homepage, and they create their own website and it’s not only website, but as I’ve said, it’s the whole system to deal with so many functions you have in the typical small non-profit.

So to give you a bit of an idea, this is a dashboard…  I’m looking at a dashboard of the system right now and so it combines your website management, it combines your event registration system, it combines your member and contact database.  For example, we have a lot of… non-profit associations using the system; it combines online fundraising system and it’s all tied together in one place.

Interviewer:
Okay.

Dmitry Buterin:
So if you have your website and people… somebody makes a donation, it will immediately go into your donation database, then this person will show up in your donor database in the system and then… or if somebody applies to become a member of your association, then they will immediately show up in your member database and you can send mass e-mails.  So you don’t have to do any manner of work to keep all the systems together.

Interviewer:
Okay, so it’s easy, it’s affordable…

Dmitry Buterin:
Exactly.

Interviewer:
…and also… I mean, the end result is that it’s helping charities to reach out, to maybe people that they would not be able to reach ---

Dmitry Buterin:
Exactly.  Instead of spending money which they don’t have, or volunteer time playing around with technical tools and software and trying to come up with something on their own, they sign up and it starts at $25 a month (Update: As of June 1st, 2015, pricing plans now start at $40) and we even have a free version, when you just will have some ads displayed.  And it gives you all these tools and instead of spending time on trying to do it on your own, you have a tool which automates all this stuff for you.

Interviewer:
And you have fifteen thousand non-profits right now…

Dmitry Buterin:
Yes, yes.

Interviewer:
…under your umbrella, under Wild Apricot?

Dmitry Buterin:
Yes, exactly.

Interviewer:
That’s a lot.

Dmitry Buterin:
Yeah.  Well, we’ve been doing this for three years and it’s funny, because lately when you meet people, everybody says, how are you doing?  It’s very tough, and so on, but it’s actually in the worst six to four months we’ve been experiencing record growth and I think it’s because of the fact that right now, people… non-profits never really had much money to speak of, but now they’re even more strained in their budgets.  So when they have this choice, okay, can I spend $10 000, or do I get to spend $50 a month and get maybe 90% of what I need?

Interviewer:
Yes.

Dmitry Buterin:
It’s a very simple choice for them, so January was actually our best month ever in terms of growth, new clients and so on.

Interviewer:
Alright.

Dmitry Buterin:
Yeah, so ---

Interviewer:
Dmitry, thank you for that.  Good information and I just have to tell people that on his card it says, Chief Apricot and your website again, is wildapricot.com.
