How can I get rid of this field on the membership application ''Manually sent member mailings'' or at least change the verbiage? Can I create other email options for the members to subscribe such as newsletters and such. If so how can I do this?   Thanks for your time.

Right now you can only select from the fields shown on the right when you edit that email template. Custom fields can not be added. We will consider it for the future.
