I'm trying to figure out a way to have special registration costs under the current framework. Here are some thoughts:
Event Registration costs are tied to
Membership Types. For example, I can create a membership type
called "Early-ird Registration" that would afford me a cut rate fee
for members who registered early. The drawback is it would create a membership type that I can't turn on or off.
Similarly, I can create a GROUP membership (so that "Chapter Groups" can be listed in the directory as well as members), that Group is listed in the Event Registration as having a distinct price category, but that isn't necessarily desireable.
Would it be possible to either have a way to turn the association between member types and events on/off? For ex: "(checkbox) make available in event registration" would be next to each member type?
Conversely, can you put a similar sort of checkbox in the editing screens for Events? For ex: "(checkbox) show this membertype"
The other thought is to have a way to apply a discount in Paypal or elsewhere.
Still another is to require the user to change the prices for member types on the dates of registration milestones (Early-Bird, Pre-Registration, Full), but that seems pesky and means that it has to be used for ALL events when not all events will cost the same. Won't this force the org to set standard pricing for their events across the board? What about a workshop that is cheaper, less overhead, less cost to the member?
