    Email Reply-to

When emails are sent from a WA account there is no provision for a reply-to address. Replies are always sent to the Contact email address as on the Organization details page.

In the case of mass emails to members there is the possibility of different officers of an organization having the need to email groups of members and receive their replies to their own email addresses. Currently there are 2 work rounds for this - either temporarily change the organization contact address or place a request in the body of the email to send replies to a specific address.

Similarly with events - different people within an organization could arrange and run events and as such require email responses to be sent to them. The only work round here is within the event description or email include text to state where replies should be sent.

In both cases, at least on the surface, it appears that the addition of a new field for the reply-to address is all that is needed. This could possibly be defaulted to the organization contact address. Being an IT professional myself I realize that potentially there is more to it than that, but I cannot see it being a mammoth task. I have myself recently been working on a system which generates emails and am familiar with the MIME standard. You already derive the 'reply-to' header from a database value so I imagine it wouldn't be too much trouble to change that.

I will be interested to know your thoughts on this.

    Regards,

    Geoff,

Thanks for the detailed feedback. You make a good point and it is on our list to resolve this. I do not know the details but I believe that the biggest hurdle is to avoid being blacklisted by spam filters - as you can imagine we send lots of emails on behalf of our clients. So we have to be very careful with all email changes.

Anyway, we will definitely take your feedback into account as we are planning and prioritizing our releases.

I sincerely hope that this one is resolved soon as it causes headaches for us. I'm amazed that something like this hasn't been requested before.

I can't see your point about spam filters. All I'm asking for is a method of customising the reply-to address in an email header. The emails will be going out anyway, irrespective of whether we have the required reply-to, so spam is not an issue.

    Re: Email Reply-to

You know what, you are right. We have reviewed once again with the team and all our prior concerns no longer apply due to recent changes (specifically that we now forward bounces).

So we will try to schedule this change in one of the next two iterations.

    Appreciate your feedback.
