And the hits just keep on coming

    Hello My Favorite Fruit!

Here are the features we are asking for.  We have a client that is really interested in this solution, and we are looking at either building it from scratch, or picking some low hanging fruit....

Here are the features that we think will really make this a great solution:

    1) The ability to select a choice for the event.  We see this as an ad-hoc type of a question, and would like it, to begin with, to be able to select 1 of many choices.

    Example:

    Meal Choice:     Chicken, Beef, Lamb
    Room Choice:   A, B, C

Things like that.  This way the events are able to be customized and allow for the atendees to choose from a list of choices.  I would not limit this to just 1 choice per event.  Example:

    All Day Event, With Lunch:
    Events for the Day:
    8:00 to 10:00   Choose Room A or Room B
    10:00 to 12:00  Choose Room A or Room B
    Lunch:  Choose Chicken or Beef
    1:00 to 3:00 Choose Room A or Room B
After Show Event Choose Golf or Factory Tour

This is going to be VERY typical of the events that many of our clients will do.

    2) The ability to "shut down" registration X days before the event.  This would allow the person setting up the event to choose when the event registration closes.  This is needed for many events so that there can be a "head count" for catering and other purchases.  Typically the event needs to be "shut down" 3 days before the event.

(as a side note to this, perhaps another feature that would be interesting would be timed tierd pricing.  Meaning, Event Registration $20    then 10 days before the event it is $25  then 5 days before the event $30 then the event is shut off at 3 days before the event.  Like I said, perhaps interesting, but not something we are asking for.)

    3) Tiered Membership Pricing.  It looks like you are moving in that direction right now in the Settings:Membership Levels.  That is cool.  We see this in many organizations.  Typically:

    Members
    Associate Members
    Officers
    Students
    Vendors
    Non-Members

The system looks like it is moving in that direction.  Good Job!

    4) The ability to "bring a guest".  Many orgainizations allow members to bring 1 guest to an event.  They still have to pay for 2 registrations, but there needs to be the abiltiy to enter the person's name.

    5) The ability to add multiple attendees.  We have been asked this question quite a bit.  In some organizations there is a single point of contact that will enter registrations for several people from the same company.

    6) Corporate tables.  Many events will sell both individual event "tickets" and tables that seat X number of people.  Typically 8-12.  This would be a great feature.

    7) The ability to export a list of attendees for a single event.  This will allow us to:

    • Place the list of attendees in an excel spreadsheet and sort by name, so we can set up the registration tables
    • Print Name Tags
    • Get the "final count" for food (This export would show us choices from #1 above

That is what we have for today.  We are excited about this product, and hope we are not asking for too much.

    Cheers!!

Re: And the hits just keep on coming

    Hi,
Thanks for your feedback, this is very helpful.
Let me comment one by one:
    1) Very good point. We had in mind something like this, but it was more complicated so we were planning it sometime in the fall. I have made a note and we will try to prioritize it higher/do faster.

    2) Auto-closing event is already in the plan. We are planning two features: a) autoclosing by certain date and b) by limiting the number of registrations.
Early registration - we are looking into this as well. The workaround is to simply inform people about this in event details - and remember to change the price at the appropriate date. So eventually we will automate this.

    3) Yes, this will be out very shortly.

    4) yes, we have come across this too. Good point, noted.

    5) Noted, will think about this.

    6) Yes, we have encountered too. Will look into this

    7) This is in the plan, should be out early August.

This is excellent input, exactly what we need. We have a long list of potential features (user stories) from our past projects and this kind of input helps us to prioritize them.
FYI - we will have a bunch of substantial new feature out by early August, then a big release will be in September (but we will keep publishing new features ~ every two weeks).
