Hi  - Is there any way to add a "tab" feature to the member directory? ie let users jump to members whose names begin with "M"?

Do you mean making paging of the member list using not page numbers but letters instead? What do you think if this would be made as an preference o displaying members directory (like sorting option now - when click Edit on members directory page)?

Thanks for the very quick reply - Im trying to recreate the current look we have (http://censa.net/membership-directory-a.asp) which makes it easy for a member or visitor to jump to a name.  Its more for the frontend than member database issues.

I looked into the site and I can see that the way of implementation I suggested earlier can solve the problem.

But did you try "simple" members search? On member directory search there are 2 kind of searches - simple and advanced. Using simple search a visitor can just type the name he looks for and the system will show the record instantly (it would be narrowing the full member list during typing).

Give it a try -  this might help you for now.

The problem is that I want to have one directory of members which is accessible by non-members and includes members names and bios (but not contact info) and a second one for the members only section which includes bio and contact info.

 

Is this possible?

This can not be automated in ths way by the current system but something we will look at in 3-6 months (we plan to allow multiple 'instances' of modules like member directory, event list - with different options).
