    Text Used on Payment Panel

Currently when the website is integrated with PayPal and other payment systeems, the text used to describe payment by a manual method is called "Manual".

This verbage isn't consistent with what most people would expect as Manual isn't defined anywhere.  It leaves a user asking what does that mean?

I would like it to be more specific and user friendly such as "Check, Money Order, Wire or Cash" since these methods are the methods any company would probably use.  This would make more sense to someone who isn't familar with this this website and is more consistant with main stream online store verbage.  I think this is such an easy change that it would be great to see it go in sooner rather than later.

We are not happy with the current name either. However simply changing from 'Manual' to 'Check, Money Order, Wire or Cash' does not seem right as some people might not use some of these methods.

I think the best way to address this is make this text customizable - which is a bit harder.

I hope other clients will pitch in with their comments and votes.

I think letting it be user-defined would be easiest.  It could be a field on the "Payments Settings" page under "Payment options for users."  If the "Offline by..." field is checked, then the user could input the text to be used.

In this case, maybe it's best to have two options -- one for events so attendees could "Pay in person at check-in", and another for membership/subscriptions so it could be limited to "Pay by check."

More customizable text, in general, on the website would be fabulous.

I like the idea of being able to create a custom text for the current "manual" hardwritten text.  I also agree the way to administer this is in the Payment Settings area.  Maybe you could add a free flow text under the "Payment options for users" and change the Office by mail, fax, phone or in person, using a check, cash, or credit card to just be a manual text field the user will define.  This will then carry to all payment panel pages.

Re: Text Used on Payment Panel

In general the idea of customizable text would be a good usability feature.

The old usage of the word "Group" (now "Bundle") was useful for me.  In my organization a 'group' membership is a family membership - which did not need much explanation. When it shifted to "Bundle" I had to use a section divider in my signup page to try to explain that a bundle is just a family membership.

I suspect that many organizations use 'bundle' memberships and they all call it something different (but none would call it a bundle :-).).  The ability for us to give it our own name would be great.

Re: Text Used on Payment Panel

    God points all around.

I came up wth a 'Bundle' name and hated it myself - but we could not find any better alternatives and we could not leave this confusingly similar with a totally different function (Groups).

Customizing any text in the system is lots and lots of work so it is not in current plans.

BUt knowing the specific most important areas ('Manual', 'Bundle' etc.) is very useful so that we can plan something specificaly for that. It is still a lot of work as this word is not a standalone label and is used in a few dozen different texts.

Re: Text Used on Payment Panel

The "Bundle" issue may have a less complex solution.

I'd suggest that it would not need to be a systemic change.  This is probably not a problem for the Administrators.  We have access to the Knowledge Base and can deal with the word Bundle and what it means.

Where it becomes a problem is where it is presented to the membership which (I think) is just on the signup screen.   If you could give us a way to customize this word where it is presented to the membership the problem would, at least for me, go away.
