We also have a sports team and need to have email addresses for each child and sometimes multiple parent emails. Here's a workaround I've started to use for parent emails:
1) We created a custom text field on the membership application for the applicant to list the parent email addresses. We also created a separate membership type called "Additional Parent e-Mail" that's not included on any forms or in the directory - but it's automatically included on event reminders. I manually create the parents as this member type which enables the option to also include the parents on member emailings. - Note: this manual work around works as the team has fewer than 15 players. It may become too work intensive for a larger organization.
2) The confirm no would also be a good capability for our sports team as well as it's presumed all Players can attend events unless they explicitely indicate a negative.
