Forum summary page -- Description box

I am using Discussion Forum pages as a quick and easy way of updating information on our various project pages.   I use the Description box to provide a brief overview of the project - usually several paragraphs.  Updates to each project are provided by creating new forum topics.

I have a problem when using the Forum Summary page. It displays all of the text in the Description box. Given that you allow 2000 characters in the Description box, displaying all of the text is not appropriate.

How about modifying how the Forum Summary page works by displaying only the first sentence?  The first sentence can act as a headline for the forum.  Or display text only up to the first newline? This would allow anyone to choose between no text or first sentence only.

Alternatively (but not as good a solution), how about allowing suppression of the text in the Description box.
