When a new and desirable feature is added which is optional to members, there needs to be a way to implement it quickly and easily for all (or some) members. Otherwise, it could be months or years before members get around to implementing the feature individually.
Using forum updates by email as an example, here are three possible approaches:
- The Administrator implements the feature for all members, with individual opt-outs possible after the fact.
- The Administrator sends a blast email to all members which includes an activation link for the feature – just click on the link to confirm.
- If the feature can be applied multiple times – e.g. for several forums, there needs to be an “Implement all” button – e.g. “Subscribe to all”. Also for unsubscribe.
I would like to see all of these capabilities added.
