    domain

I am trying to use my domain: www.saeftraining.com hosted by omnis.com.

I cannot understand the very confusing "help" you offer. I need to know the address to point my domain to with you.

Since there is no way to talk with a live person...please advise.

I have just updated to a paid membership and am now having second thoughts.

Why, by the way, does it take more than two minutes to load my site at saef.memberlodge.com???

    Re: domain

Generally speaking, setup of your domain depends on DNS setup functionality provided by your domain registrar and you should contact them for more details.

You have to create (CNAME) www for your DNS servers which points to sites.memberlodge.org

    Also,
If you want to point not only your www.yourdomain.org but also your main domain yourdomain.org, you have to setup A-record for yourdomain.org to point to our server IP address 216.128.25.34

We also highly recommend to create an SPF record for your domain to specify that Wild Apricot servers are allowed to send emails on your behalf.
    See for details: http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Custom+domain+setup

I've also tested your site and it works fine, could you test it from another location?

    Re: domain

I've read this answer and documents on the help section regards using our own URL - www.lakespokane.com but am unable to take your instructions and apply them to our domain registrar's interface.

We use www.mydomain.com.  Their interface asks us to type in 2 different "named servers."  It appears from your instructions above that the "named server" we are to use is sites.memberlodge.org

Is this correct?  If so, do I just input the same server into both fields on the mydomain site even though they are asking for two different named servers?

    Thanks!

    Re: domain

We do not provide nameservers ourselves - since they are provided for free by most domain registrars. So sites.memberlodge.org is not a nameserver, it is a 'canonical name' pointing to our servers. So you need to find a place in the interface to customize settings for registrar's nameservers to point to us - or contact their support.

    Re: domain

Ok, I finally found the correct screen on mydomain.com's web site to make these changes.

Of course their instructions don't quite match the same terms you are using.  Here are some questions:

    1. They have 5 records I can update - NS, MX, CNAME, A, and TXT.  It appears to me from your instructions that I only need to be updating the CNAME, the A, and the TXT records.  Correct?
    2. For the CNAME record I input sites.memberlodge.org  It appears as though I am only allowed to enter one domain for this record - would that be www.lakespokane.com or lakespokane.com?
    3. For the A record I input 206.196.16.30.  Again, I am only allowed one domain.  Do I use www.lakespokane.com or just lakespokane.com?
    4. Same question for the TXT record - www.lakespokane.com or lakespokane.com?
    5. I don't understand the text I am to type into the TXT record field - there does not appear to be an SPF record yet so I think I type "v=spf1 mx include:memberlodge.org ~all"  Is that correct text?  Also, your knowledgebase shows "" around the text and mydomain.com's instructions show ' around the text.  Are the quotes (and what kind) or are there no quotes used?

    Thanks!

    Re: domain

    1. Yes, only CNAME, A record and the TXT have to be updated.
    2. You have to enter sites.memberlodge.org not akespokane.com
    3. There is no domain for A record, only IP 206.196.16.30
    4. You have to enter v=spf1 mx include:memberlodge.org ~all
    5. Yes, you have to enter v=spf1 mx include:memberlodge.org ~all
    no quotes required.

Also, as far as to our knowledge, all setup must be done for lakespokane.com and not www.lakespokane.com. It would be a good idea to contact your domain name provided for more specific details.

    Re: domain

    1. done.
    2. I did use sites.memberlodge.org for the CNAME. My question is that mydomain.com asks me to input my domain name that pertains to that record.  The Knowledgebase topic sometimes includes the use of 'www' in front of our domain name and sometimes it drops the 'www."  For the CNAME record am I using the www.lakespokane.com domain or just lakespokane.com?
    3. This question is the same as #2.  I did input the correct IP address in the record.  I'm just not clear on whether I'm supposed to reference the 'www' or not in front of my domain for this record.
    4. done.
    5. done.

Thanks for all the prompt replies!  We're almost there.

    Re: domain

2 and 3. My guess would be lakespokane.com, but once again you would have to consult with your domain name provider.

    Re: domain

Denys, maybe if you could explain the context of the difference between using the "www" and not using it I could figure it out.

    Thanks

    Re: domain

I don't think I would be able to explain the context, this is very specific topic and I am not an expert in this. I would suggest to Google it.
