Raw Web Logs from Host server?

Is there any way that we could access the raw web logs directly from the server via FTP?

Sorry, there is no way to do this.

Can you comment on why do you need this? (so that we can analyze/consider this)

While I may not need access to the Raw logs, I would like to get some simple statistics of number of visitors and where they are coming from, etc.  I can provide a sample of the web stats I used to get with my old self hosted site from a program called AWSTATS.

You can use any web-based analytics software to do this, for example Google Analytics - excellent report and free. See http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Using+Google+Analytics+with+Wild+Apricot

    Hi Dmitry!

We would be interested in accessing the actual raw web logs in order to "suck them down" via FTP.  We use a very powerful log analyzer called ClickTracks Pro.

Other programs similar to yours have given us a specific username and password that specifically allows us to access the logs for just our site.

Of course, we would not want to be able to access anything else via FTP.

Is that something you could discuss with whoever works with your hosting?

    Please let me know.

    Corey

    Hi Corey!

    Thanks for your kind words!

Sorry at the moment we do not have a way to provide this (since there is no separate log for each Wa site, it is all handled by one big engine on a server farm).

    Bummer.

We'll manage.  I'll probably use Google Analytics.  (yuck)

I moved this to wishlist - so we will monitor what other people think about this.

On another note - I am very curious what key advantages you see in ClickTracks vs. Google Analytics. We have been using GA for long time and it has been working very well for us. If you ever have time to elaborate, feel free to post.

Re: Raw Web Logs from Host server?

I'm quite sure most people would not care.

For us, it's a little different.  We are an Internet marketing company, so we have invested in ClickTracks.

The benefits?  The big thing for us is to be able to slice and dice things a little better.  Especially in working with large sites with lots of visitors, our clients ask some unique and complicated questions.  ClickTracks has a nice way of "tagging" certain visitors and tracking the behavior.

Many of the same things can be done with Google Analytics, but ClickTracks is easier to work with and actually resides on your computer as opposed to a hosted solution.

Thanks for at least considering the request.

     Corey
