Can I sort and display the member directy by membership type?  I would like my premium members to be listed above the regular members in the default display which will be available to the public.

Yes, membership levels are sorted by the price, more expensive on top.

Go to Web Pages / Member directory page / click on Edit Settings button.
In Sorting order section select Sort by: Membership level
