We just moved several of our articles to the blog format (which we love, btw!).  But, we noticed several of the longer ones were cut off. When we pasted the content into the "body" box, it all showed correctly.  After we posted it, the public display was cutoff and when we went to edit the page, the text near the end of the article was gone.

Does the blog have a character limit?  If it does, could you tell me what it is so we can try to modify the articles we have to fit?  Will this character limit remain the same in future upgrades?

Hi,

currently blog post body is limited to 10 KBytes and comments are limited to 5 Kb (commenting will be available in the next release on 20th July) .

Actually, you should have received alert message that you reached the limit. Have you? Please let us know if the text you are trying to post is less then the limit specified (to count exact blog post length, click HTML button in editor panel, select all the text in the textbox and paste it to any simple text editor like notepad. You can save the file after that and file size will be your blog post size).

We will consider enlarging the limits on blog posts.

Hi Evgeny,

I copied the HTML into notepad.  The file size was only 8kb.  There are no pictures in the post - only text.  There was no alert saying the post was approaching any limits.

We have checked the problem thoroughly and found that there is a bug - the system silently truncates text after 4000 chars (without any warning). The bug will be fixed in the nearest system update - which is planned on 20th July 2007 (in 2 days). Please let us know if this cannot wait till this time - I will try to publish the fix earlier.

Unfortunately, we are not able to restore your full articles - so you have to update truncated posts yourself when the bug have been fixed.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience.

 

P.S. We will also enlarge limits on blog articles to 50Kb with the upcoming system update.

Thank you for looking into this and for letting me know what was causing the post to be truncated.

I have copies of the original articles, so I can recreate the blog entry after the bug is fixed.  I'll wait until after the next release and then repost the longer articles.

Thanks!  I have reposted our longer articles and they all went in ok.

I noticed after updating the timestamps on the blogs they are not resorted by date.  It looks like the blogs are shown by the order they were posted rather than by date. 

Is this planned for a future release? It would make more sense for the blogs to be shown chronologically.

You are right - blog posts are sorted in order of creation but should have been sorted by their date. We have missed this bug.

We will fix it in the next planned system update (10 August).
