I often get people signing up for the wrong form of membership, although the different types of membership are described elsewhere on my site.

It would be great of the site admin could put descriptive text associated with each of the fields on the membership application form for cases where the responses required aren't intuitive.

Thanks for the suggestion. 

What we plan to do soon is to add a large editable text box on the top of application form. It can be used to describe different membership levels, application procedure - or whatever else is relevant. I think this should pretty much address your need too.
