The News page does not allow creating news articles.  The only type of content possible is a continuous page.  It would be nice to have a second level in the hierarchy of pages so as when you click on the news heading it will expand into an article.

You are right - the only type of content available right now is a continuos page. We do have multi-level menu pages in our plan (September)
Also, for the News/Artciles we are considering a special "module" or "wizard" when user would not have to manually create subpages and link to them, but instead would create the summary page "News/Articles" and then have a button like "Add new article". This button would bring up a window asking for all article fields - and the automatically update the summary page - as well as create the subpage.

Thanks Dmitry, that makes a lot of sense.

We've updated our pages feature with a simple page wizard.  Now you can select from a few different page templates such as list of articles, list of links, list of people and more to help you add articles to your news page.

These templates are just layouts for now. We are working on some modules with functionality as discussed - blog, forum, news.

I think that is a wonderful idea, and should be easy enough to create. News pages are clunky to create the way they are, and in theory there should be an easy archive by date function, as well as that format creating the ability to make it an RSS feed.

Please do incorporate this into a soon-to-be release!
