I recently attended a Georgia Center for Non-Profits [ http://www.gcn.org/ ] event here in Savannah Georgia, and the keynote speaker [ http://www.creativecitiesconsulting.com/ ]
Chris Miller spoke of what he feels are 10 areas the Non-Profit community needs to understand in order to succeed. Here they are in no particular order:
1) entrepreneurship
- constant adaptation
- innovation
- small, fast, flexible
2) longtail
- Obama
- technology
3) new media
- virtual communities
- social networking
- multiple paths
4) sheer info volume
- ease publishing
- overcoming the signal-to-noise ratio
5) value proposition
- why should anyone care
- to grow the pie, grow the proposition
6) changing demographic
- boomers need meaning
- have time & money
7) increasing economic awareness
- econ literacy
- need for real numbers
8) shrinking size of business
- rise of the knowledge community
9) necessity of collaborations
10) shift from process-oriented paradigm to results-oriented paradigm
These are just his highlights. If you are interested in further insight, please contact Chris. He is a great guy to talk to and know.
For WA design and development help - let Nicasio Design know how we can be of service. FYI - we have a recent WA development in which we are able to have the site work with a two language development we made. Let us know if you need to make WA go to the next level for you.
Thanks,
