270+ Web-Based Business Tools

Hundreds of new web-based applications come on the market every year, so there's likely to be an affordable application for almost any administrative task -- with no need to download, install, maintain and update the same software on each of the computers in your organization. It's an approach that makes sense for many small and medium-sized businesses, and perhaps even more so for nonprofits and associations with limited resources.

But how do you go about finding the tools you need?

Mashable.com's new list of 270+ Tools for Running a Business Online -- adding to more than 230 web apps rounded up by the venerable technology site in a similar list posted last August -- is a great starting point.

"Some are completely new since last year," author Cameron Chapman explains, "others might have been overlooked, and still others made significant improvements that gained them a spot on the list."  (We're pleased to see Wild Apricot featured in the Crowdsourcing, Networking & Community category!)

With such a long list of resources, of course, you won't find detailed reviews of each tool to help you make a decision about which one might suit you best -- but you will find a good choice of web-based solutions for:

  • Accounting, Billing, Invoicing, Estimating & Contracts
  • Calendars & Scheduling
  • Charts, Diagrams, and Whiteboards
  • Collaboration & Workgroups
  • Conferences, Presentations & Meetings
  • Crowdsourcing, Networking & Community
  • Customer Relationship Management, Customer Service & Contact Management
  • Database, File Storage & Information Management
  • Email
  • Employee Management, Payroll & Human Resources
  • Feedback
  • Marketing & Publicity
  • Money Making & eCommerce Solutions
  • Office Applications
  • Organization & Management
  • Phone & Voicemail
  • Task Lists, Planning & Project Management
  • Time Management & Tracking
  • Virtual Office Platforms
  • Website Tools

Have a look, see what you think -- what would you add to (or remove from) the Mashable "business tool box," if you were drawing up the list?

This list reminds me of the good old days, when software was delivered on 5.25 floppies. The Software distributors had gorgeous catalogs with pithy descriptions.

Those little booklets made you WANT to buy all the cool software they were hawking.

While I'm more set in my ways now, I could happily spend a few hours learning some of these programs.

Cheers,

Mitch

Rebecca,

A great business app I ran across is Jott.com where you can write notes, record 15-second notes and upload notes.
