Additional text styles, hiding unfinished pages and more

Some people complain that August is a slow month. This year, we could not complain (actually, maybe we could!) - August has been very busy and exciting.

On the one hand, quite a few of our team members took their well-deserved vacations.

On the other hand, we had to keep pushing ahead with new features, polishing off some stuff after our major release in early August which included online payments functionality (you do not want to mess up any financial transactions!) and reacting to user feedback.

We have just updated Wild Apricot system today (internally known as release 2.3), so here are the key updates:

  • Listening to some smart people (including Mike McDerment of FreshBooks ) we have simplified opening a trial account. Now you can choose your password and go into the system right away - no need to wait for your password to be emailed to you (Too many emails are sacrificed to the Gods of Spam these days...)

And we are not stopping there - we have many more ideas going forward - wizards, tours and demo systems to make it easier for new users to orient themselves

and start using Wild Apricot in earnest.

  • Now you can edit the name of your organization at any time (sorry we did not have this before!) Quite a few people made typos when opening a trial account and ended up opening another new account with the correct spelling - as they could not find the way to correct the typo.
  • You now export the list of event attendees for a particular event at any time.
  • Handling renewal dates is now much smarter, linked up with the 'Custom membership levels' feature implemented in the previous release
  • Ability to hide any webpage from your visitors - so that you can keep working on it until it is ready and then make it visible to the outside world:

  • We have added a bunch of additional text styles so that you can format your webpage better - without having to go into HTML code view:

And I will not go into details, but the following illustrates how many other small things we have polished and fixed:

Keep the feedback coming - most of the team are back from vacations so will keep moving faster!

As a WA developer, I would like to add that I'm sorry for all the bugs you might come across using the application. But we listen to you (or at least try to do this) and react on your suggestions as fast as we can. Every bug/problem will be solved, that is what I can promise. May be not as fast as you wish :)

So please give us as many comments as you can - we want to build a system that is convinient to you, not to us. And thanks again for all the comments you have already posted!
