Get a Quick Word Count
Few of us can accurately guess the number of words in a block of text, just by looking at it, even with years of practice. Fortunately, a 'ballpark estimate' is usually good enough for most purposes. There are times, however, when your word count does matter.

Social Media in Plain English: Video
It turns out that ice cream and social media have a lot in common -- at least, according to the latest video by Lee Lefever of Common Craft, Social Media in Plain English. Using a deceptively simple paper and whiteboard technique, Common Craft specializes in short, amusing, and easy-to-understand videos that explain complex ideas. This latest video focuses on basics of Social Media: "new technology that makes everyone a producer and tools that give everyone a chance to have a say."

In the first part of this article, we talked about various ways to show data in tables on your website or blog -- their strengths and their limitations. Here, we'll take a closer look at how to use Zoho Sheet, Google Spreadsheets, or DabbleDB to create a searchable, interactive table that you can easily embed in your web page, and update as easily as you update the original spreadsheet.

Read the Words: Free Text-to-Speech Tool
Sometimes it just isn’t possible for your website's visitors to read what you have to say. Perhaps a visitor has limited vision, or other physical challenges that make onscreen reading difficult. Perhaps reading itself may be a challenge for him. But accessibility can be about more than physical, mental, educational, and similar limitations. Some members of your target audience may simply be too busy to take the time to read your website or blog. If you can give those people the ability to multi-task — to listen to your blog posts on an mp3 player as they go about their other business, for example — you'll give your message one more chance to get out there and be heard.

Get Started with RSS Feeds and Feed Readers
RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication, an internet standard for publishing updates to web-based content. You may hear it called web feeds, XML feeds, RSS channels, subscriptions, syndicated content -- by any name, it's all RSS -- and one of the most useful bits of internet technology to come along. What can RSS do for you?

10 Reasons Why Every Nonprofit Must Have a Blog
Think your nonprofit organization has no need for a blog? You may want to think again. According to Technorati, more than 10,500 blogs were tagged 'charity', 4,000 blogs 'nonprofit' and 2,300 blogs 'philanthropy' in January of 2007 and these numbers are predicted to rapidly increase in the future.
