Online credit card payments
Accept credit cards, bank transfers, PayPal, and more
Wild Apricot handles payments for event registration, membership sign-ups and renewals and online donations.
Online credit card payments are handled through integration with PayPal - a wholly owned subsidiary of trusted ecommerce leader, eBay. They offer great credit card rates - currently around 2.9% plus 30 cents/transaction. (See rates at PayPal website) Open your own PayPal account (which is free and takes 15 minutes). Specify it in Wild Apricot payment settings. Wild Apricot will now transparently handle all online payments via your own PayPal account.
Example for online event registrations:
- Visitor comes to your website event registration page
- He/she enters basic registration information and proceeds to pay
- Wild Apricot automatically redirects the user to the PayPal website. This website shows event pricing and your organization information. Visitor enters his payment details (credit card number etc. - or he can use his own PayPal account if he has one)
- PayPal processes the transaction and displays confirmation webpage. Visitor returns to your Wild Apricot website.
- In the background, PayPal interacts with Wild Apricot system confirming that payment was successful. This person is now included in your event attendees list in Wild Apricot system. (And if his payment was not completed, he will still be in the list as "pending" so that you can contact him and resolve any potential payment problems if needed)
Note that for security reasons online payment is only available to billable accounts (and the good news is that billable accounts start at $25/month). Free account holders have to process all payments outside of Wild Apricot - "offline". This means that every transaction will be marked as "pending" and then after you collect the funds, you will have to change each transaction status to "confirmed".
