Case Study: The Gulf Coast JRT Network

Lisa Dernick

"Creating the website has just put a new enthusiasm in people, it has encouraged more people to pay attention to Russell Rescue, new folks with a Jack to attend a playday, it's just been a win-win situation." Lisa Dernick says.

The club has had a website but it was never maintained or updated. With the rising cost of gas, the expense of attending a field trial, the driving time it takes to get to the Houston, TX area, they felt the need to start a new website and try to draw in more participation for their club trials.

Even with limited computer skills, they found Wild Apricot to be helpful to meet their needs. They learned how to build a website that suits their needs and have encouraged more club interest and participation.

Here are the features Gulf Coast JRT Network has found to be of the most use:

  1. Email allows us to remind our members of upcoming events, and we can also alert them if a terrier is in need of being rescued.
  2. Posting links to various JRT friendly websites, creating filmstrips and bringing our club together as a tight-knit community.
  3. Self-service member features which allow members to login, update their own profile, renew membership, change member directory preferences, pay membership dues and event registration fees.
